Frequently Asked Questions

Do you take my insurance?

I do not accept insurance, I can help you get reimbursed a portion of the fee by providing a monthly “superbill” that you can submit to your insurance company. Contact your insurance company to find out more about your plan. Some questions to ask:

  • What is my out-of-network deductible for outpatient mental health sessions?

    • Has my deductible been met?

    • What is my out-of-network coinsurance for outpatient mental health sessions?

    • How do I submit claims (superbills) for out-of-network reimbursement?

    • Is there a limit for covered sessions?

  • Do I need pre-authorization for services?

Do you have available appointments?
Please contact me to discuss availability.

How long is a session and how often do we meet?
Individual therapy and couples sessions are 50-minutes and occur on a weekly basis (for at least the first 8 weeks).

How do I pay for a session?
Payment is due at the beginning of session.  I accept cash, credit and HSA cards. You will be expected to pay for any missed sessions unless you provide 48-hours advance notice of cancellation. Insurance companies do not provide reimbursement for canceled or “no-show” sessions.

How long will therapy take?
The duration of therapy is determined by each individual’s particular challenges and goals. For some, treatment goals can be met within a couple of months, for others it may take a couple of years. Deeper work takes longer than symptom relief, and at times will require working through discomfort that can lead to lasting change and fuller, more authentic living. I will have a better sense of this after the intake appointment and the following few sessions. I will review treatment progress throughout the course of our time together so that we both remain on the same page regarding length of treatment.

What are my privacy rights?
Your personal health information is protected under the HIPAA Privacy Rule, meaning that your healthcare information will be protected and not shared with a Release of Information form signed by you.  You will receive a Client Consent form with more information prior to your intake appointment.
