Individual Counseling

My Approach

I am a relational counselor that focuses on a collaborative process. This means that the relationship between us is the most important element for the therapeutic process and it requires effort and hard work from both of us. We will create a safe, empowering space to process difficult feelings and create a treatment plan that fits you.

As we navigate through the healing process I will use evidence-based practices to guide our work in order to reach your goals. I have a warm and direct style making sure that my approach fits each individual.

I will honor and respect the individual’s racial, gender, sexual, and spiritual identities. I will provide trauma informed, gender affirming, neurodivergent affirming, and non monogamous informed care. I strongly believe that each treatment plan will need to represent the client holistically and be unique to each individual. At anytime, a client can provide feedback, ask questions, revisit goals, and make changes.

Modalities

My practice is integrative, using Internal Family Systems (IFS), Emotion Focused therapy (EFT), and Attachment and Psychodynamic Theories. While working together, I encourage you to ask questions that will help you understand how I work and raise any concerns about how therapy is going. I am committed to creating the best plan for each client.

IFS views an individual as being made up of different “parts,” the mind has an inner family system, similar to the movie “Inside Out.” We will explore emotions and the parts that make up the individual, some examples: the inner-critic, the achiever, people pleaser, distracted, and shameful. By understanding parts, individuals can recognize “who” is showing up in their day to day life and offer self-compassion to vulnerable parts that need attention and care.

EFT is another emotion based modality that helps an individual better identify, experience, regulate, and accept their emotions. Through this modality we can improve emotional functioning, stronger bonds, and interpersonal understanding.

Attachment and Psychodynamic Theories help individuals identify patterns, explore a deeper understanding of emotions, and improve relationships.
